What to Consider When Getting a Swimming Pool

It’s summer and the perfect time to have new home additions like a swimming pool installed. If you’re thinking about getting a pool for your family, following are two things to consider.

1. The Size of the Property

This is probably the number one thing to keep in mind when getting a pool. The size of the pool you get is going to be determined by the size of your yard. Your pool should not push the limits of your space. For example, you want to leave enough space to be able to walk around the pool comfortably.

This is for safety, as well as aesthetic reasons. Also, you may decide to put in a deck or do landscaping around your pool. You need room for all of this.

2. Above-Ground or In-Ground?

Which type of pool you get will largely be dictated by your budget. In-ground pools are more expensive, but they also give you the greatest amount of options. They can be custom designed to look anyway you want. Above-ground pools, on the other hand, come in standard sizes and depths.

While your style options are limited, they are less expensive to buy as well as install. For just a few thousand dollars, a professional pool installer can have you and your family swimming in no time.

Pools as New Home Additions are Bringing Families Together in Tough Times

Right now, the economy is weak, home values are depressed and the job market is tight. What this means is that more and more families are cutting back and spending time at home. New home additions like a pool are an excellent way to bring the family together for some economical family fun.

And the best part? You can enjoy it year after year.

I think this is a great way to maximize the value of your home. Another thing to think about the space, though, is the resale value. Not all buyers are going to want a pool that takes up the entire backyard - be sure to leave room for landscaping, gardens, pets, kids, and so forth.
